01/23/12 The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League announced their 2012
championship season schedule this afternoon. The newly expanded 9 team league has
each team playing 48 games. This season the league adopted an unbalanced, one
division format, with the top four teams making the playoffs. The PGCBL champion will
be crowned after winning two rounds of playoffs. Each playoffse ries will be a best of
three showdown.
"With the addition of the Oneonta Outlaws to the league we did not want to pass up the chance to create numerous rivalry games. We pitted Oneonta against Cooperstown and Little Falls against Amsterdam and Glens Falls against Albany as many times as possible. Fans can easily cheer for their team on the road this year because they play close to home. The players love the shorter bus rides and it helps keep them fresh throughout the summer."
“With the Elmira Pioneers leading the league in Friday, Saturday and Sunday home games this year, Nellie and I feel this is a very fan friendly schedule,” stated Don Lewis, co-owner of the Elmira Pioneers. “This is only the begining of many exciting dates to be announced for the summer of 2012 at Dunn Field.”
The PGCBL is affiliated with Perfect Game USA, the largest independent scouting service in the country. Last year, more than 250 professional players and 85% of all MLB draft picks, played with PGCBL teams or participated in a Perfect Game USA sponsored event.
