
Pioneers Announce All-Star Selections Place 3 on Prospects Roster; 3 on All-Star Roster
The Elmira Pioneers, proud members of the NYCBL, announced today that six players will be joining in on the festivities of the 2010 All-Star game to be held in Glens Falls, NY. The Prospects game will be held in the afternoon on Monday as players from both divisions of the NYCBL will showcase their abilities in a seven inning game in front of scouts. The All-Star game will follow in the night as they will also take part in a seven inning game in front of Major League scouts. This year's All-Star event will be the 29th in the League history. The Pioneers will send John Colella (Holy Cross), Corey Keller (Florida Atlantic) and Michael Cleary (Southern Connecticut State) to the Prospects game. Colella in 10 appearances for Elmira currently holds a 0.00 ERA with 2-1 record and 5 saves on the season and has struck out 21 batters in 13.1 innings of work. Keller is currently fourth on the team in hitting with a .321 batting average, 25 hits, 1 home run and 12 runs batted in. Cleary is hitting .326 on the year with 28 hits, 3 doubles and 7 runs batted in. The All-Star roster will have Andrew Foushee (Presbyterian College), John Snyder (Marietta College) and Ryan Ferguson (Temple). Foushee has been very effective on the mound this year for Elmira and holds a 1.31 ERA through 6 starts with a 3-0 record. Foushee has thrown 41.1 innings on the year striking out a league leading 39 batters with 1 shut-out and opposing batters hitting .196. Snyder is currently second on the team in hitting with a .349 batting average and 29 hits to go along with 1 home run and a team leading 22 runs batted in. Snyder is also second on the team with .434 slugging percentage. Ferguson will make a second trip to the All-Star game after making the 2009 squad while leading the Pioneers in hitting. This season Ferguson finds himself in the same position as he currently holds a .358 batting average with 34 hits, 11 doubles, 1 home run, 15 runs batted in and a team best .505 slugging percentage. The Pioneers return to Dunn Field to begin a five game home stand starting Wednesday July 14th. Thursday July 15th is Thirsty Thursday, all drinks are $1. Fantastic Friday, July 16th, there will be a fireworks display presented by the City of Elmira. Spectacular Saturday, July 17th, is Hall of Fame invocation night, when “lucky fan” giveaways include an HDTV, DVD player and the “Allegiant Air weekend vacation” in Orlando.
