The NYCBL Elmira Pioneers Wrapped up their second Divisional Tittle yesterday as they earned a split with the Allegany County Nitros. The Pioneers last won their West Tittle in 2007 when they advanced to the NYCBL Championship Game.
With the split, Elmira has a 26-14 record which ties a NYCBL team record as the 2007 squad finished the season with a 26-16 mark. The Pioneers have 2 more chances to set a new mark as they will host the Hornell Dodgers on Tuesday, July 27th and Wednesday, July 28th.
The League also announced the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for July 19th-25th. Carlos Lopez earned Player of the Week honors as he is hitting .380 with 19 Hits, 2 Home Runs and 17 RBI. Lopez has appeared in 16 games for the Pioneers since joining the team after the All-Star break. Casey Levens earned co-Pitcher of the Week honors after firing a two-hitter against Allegany County on July 22nd. Levens is 2-1 on the year with a 2.60 ERA through 2 starts.
Tuesday, July 27th is Fan Appreciation Night. The Party in the Park Concert Series concludes with a performance by the Colin Markus Band. Wednesday July 28 is the season finale against the Hornell Dodgers.
